I’m Daisy Fox,
writer and maker
Ever since I can remember I have have been writing stories and making things.
As a child I was surrounded by creativity – I spent most of my formative years in my parents’ pottery workshop.
Nowadays I am enjoying life by the sea with my family and writing informative, well researched content for young makers.
My fortnightly children’s column is syndicated across UK regional newspapers and, through it, I have met and interviewed some fascinating people – all of whom have been glad to answer my readers’ questions. I come up with a different craft project for each column, make and photograph it and write instructions.
I became a professional writer in 2001, when I was given my break as an Editorial Assistant at a local newspaper.
Alongside my writing I love to make models. After studying stop motion animation at art college, I made props for Aardman Animation’s Rex the Runt and Hot Animation’s Pingu.
My next assignment was for Warner Bros, putting the windows into the scale model of Hogwarts for Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
In 2010 I wrote and illustrated Get Ahead Fred, my first picture book, and have since worked with many organisations such as local authorities, bookshops and schools as an author and maker.
I would love to engage with more young readers and makers.
Please get in touch if you have a project you would like to discuss.
